UnitedHealth Probed by Massachusetts Over Medicaid False Claims

The attorney general of Massachusetts is investigating whether UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company inflated care levels for members of its senior care program to receive higher Medicaid reimbursements.

Attorney General Andrea Campbell (D) wants a Massachusetts Superior Court judge to compel United to comply with its investigation, claiming that the insurer is refusing to participate.

The state issued civil investigative demands in January 2022 and July 2023, and alleges that United has withheld “information that is crucial” to its Massachusetts False Claims Act investigation.
