Travelers Unit Wins Insurance Dispute Over Home Wildfire Damage

A Travelers Cos. unit defeated a Florida utility repair company over payment for residential home damages after a federal appeals court said the insurance policy bars coverage for property that was never disclosed to the carrier.

Talcon Group LLC, a sewage contractor, isn’t entitled to payment for residential home damages because its insurance application said the company’s work mainly consists of underground utility jobs, the US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit said on Wednesday. The decision upheld a lower court’s ruling.
