Travelers Files Latest Insurance Suit Over Worker Silica Claims

Travelers Cos. units sued a company that makes and sells quartz surface products, adding to the insurance giant’s bid to limit its exposure to litigation from stoneworkers in California alleging they developed silicosis from handling similar products.

The Travelers units don’t owe coverage for underlying cases against Hyundai L&C USA because their policies exclude claims due to silica and pollution, the insurers said in a Feb. 13 complaint in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
