Popular dating app Tinder’s corporate affiliate Match Group LLC must continue to make its case for insurance coverage in litigation alleging Tinder misappropriated a consultant’s idea after a federal appeals court reversed a lower court that had ruled in favor of Match.
The US District Court for the Southern District of New York incorrectly held that Match had provided timely notice to the insurer, a Beazley Plc unit, finding that a demand letter sent to executives at Tinder didn’t constitute a claim, the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit said in a summary order Tuesday.
