Tax Tweaks to Employee Health Reimbursements Due in November

The tax code updates necessary to accommodate a Trump administration plan allowing employers to use employee health reimbursements to pay for insurance are expected in November.

The Internal Revenue Service will propose regulations in November to apply “various provisions of the Internal Revenue Code” to health reimbursement accounts that are used to purchase individual health insurance, according to the Spring 2019 Unified Agenda.

The agenda item appears to be a scheduled follow-up to a proposed rule that would expand the uses of health reimbursement arrangements, allowing them to pay for insurance. That rule is slated to be completed in June. ...
