The Zurich-based firm signed at least 19 contracts between 2016 and 2022 with farms who have been linked to illegal deforestation, Repórter Brasil wrote in an investigation on Friday.
The outlet also said Swiss Re had insured agricultural businesses active in protected indigenous areas, as well as farms that kept workers in “slavery-like conditions.”
