State Farm Loses Bid to End Insured’s Discrimination Claims (1)

A lawsuit accusing State Farm Fire & Casualty Co. of discriminating against Black policyholders is moving toward trial, after a federal judge refused the insurer’s request for judgment.

Connectors Realty Group Corp. alleges State Farm treats as presumptively fraudulent claims from policyholders in Black-majority zip codes throughout Illinois, including the south and west sides of Chicago.

State Farm asked the judge for a favorable ruling, arguing no reasonable juror could find it discriminated against Connectors based on race.
