Sompo Unit Seeks to Appeal Silica Exclusion Ruling to Ninth Cir.

A Sompo Holdings Inc. insurance unit is looking to appeal a ruling that it must defend a stone product manufacturer in litigation brought by stoneworkers alleging they suffered various injuries as a result of handling the company’s products.

Sompo America Insurance Co. on Feb. 20 asked the US District Court for the Central District of California to certify its interlocutory appeal of the December 2025 decision denying its motion to dismiss LX Hausy America Inc.'s claims against it.
