Senior Elevance Executive Peter Haytaian to Leave Insurer (2)

Elevance Health Inc. executive vice president Peter Haytaian is planning to leave the company, the company announced Thursday.

Haytaian is president of the health insurer’s fast-growing Carelon services division, which includes pharmacy benefits and other services. He had been seen as a potential candidate to succeed Chief Executive Officer Gail Boudreaux, who’s run the company since 2017. Bloomberg reported the move earlier Thursday.

Chief Financial Officer Mark Kaye will oversee Carelon, the company said. Haytaian will leave the role effective May 4 and serve as an adviser through the end of the year.
