Salesforce Beats Travelers Bid to Duck Trafficking Case Costs

A federal appeals court denied a request by a Travelers Cos. unit to reverse the dismissal of its suit against Salesforce Inc. over coverage for multidistrict litigation tied to trafficking claims.

Because the MDL claims could potentially be covered, Travelers Property Casualty Co. still must cover SalesForce’s legal defense costs, the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit said in an unpublished opinion Wednesday.

Salesforce was sued by multiple plaintiffs after it sold business software to Backpage.com, a classified advertising site. The plaintiffs alleged that Salesforce violated Texas law by aiding a business they say compelled them into prostitution. ...
