PNC, Beazley Insurer Sued by Ohio Law Firm Over Wire Fraud

An Ohio law firm sued PNC Financial Services Group Inc. and a Beazley Plc insurance unit after losing $328,500 in a wire fraud scheme, claiming the bank wrongly indicated a fraudulent check had cleared and that the insurer improperly denied coverage.

In a complaint filed Friday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, Wickens Herzer Panza said it fell victim to scammers impersonating Odfjell Drilling Ltd., who allegedly hired the firm for a fake oil equipment sale to Marathon Petroleum Corp.
