Peabody Energy Sued by Insurer Over New Mexico Mining Death Case

Peabody Energy Corp. was hit with a suit from an American Financial Group Inc. insurance unit seeking a ruling that it owes no coverage for wrongful death litigation arising from an incident at a coal mine in New Mexico.

The complaint, filed July 11 in the US District Court for the District of New Mexico, centers on an insurance policy Mid-Continent Casualty Co. issued to Apex Solutions LLC. Apex had a master service agreement with Peabody to provide maintenance and other services at the El Segundo Mine.
