An insurer breached its policy with units of paper manufacturer Ahlstrom by denying coverage for an underlying proposed class action alleging PFAS contamination from paper mill sludge on farmland in Wisconsin, the policyholders said in a lawsuit.
Colony Insurance Co. must defend and indemnify the paper mill plaintiffs under a premises environmental and remediation liability insurance policy for property damage, bodily injury, and cleanup costs resulting from the alleged PFAS pollution, according to the suit filed Oct. 18 in the US District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin.
