Old Republic Insurer Beats Trucking Company Over Debris Claims

An Old Republic International Corp. insurance unit is off the hook for a trucking company’s defense costs in a suit from an Illinois town alleging unlawful disposal of demolition debris.

The underlying suit by the Village of Plymouth wasn’t covered because the demolition debris was intentionally placed at the three sites, meaning there was no accidental “occurrence” that triggered VanFleet Trucking LLC’s policy, the US District Court for the Central District of Illinois said in a Wednesday order.
