NY Archdiocese Says Chubb ‘Reverse Bad Faith’ Claim Misses Mark

The New York Archdiocese moved to trim its wide-ranging lawsuit with Chubb Ltd. units, saying that part of the insurer’s argument goes well beyond what state laws allow.

The motion is part of litigation between the insurers and the archdiocese over who should pay for sexual abuse claims against the church.

Chubb is arguing that the New York Archdiocese colluded in bad faith by concealing information about underlying claims and conducting a public relations campaign against the insurance company.
