NJ School, Insurer Halt Dispute Over Clergy Sex Abuse Settlement

A Morristown, N.J.-based Catholic school and Utica Mutual Insurance Co. agreed to end a dispute for now over the insurer’s refusal to settle a clergy sex abuse lawsuit brought by a former student.

The parties can reopen the insurance coverage dispute once there’s a ruling on a motion for attorneys’ fees in the underlying case, according to an order Monday from the US District Court for the District of New Jersey.
