A New York college sued its cyber insurer for refusing to pay most claims from an April 2024 cyberattack, seeking at least $1.6 million in damages.
At-Bay Insurance Services LLC paid only $38,643 of Keuka College’s insurance claim following a cybersecurity breach that affected the school’s computer systems, according to a complaint filed Feb. 6 in the US District Court for the Western District of New York.
Keuka said the cyberattack damaged its remote VPN and departmental shared drives, forcing the college to rebuild its systems over several months.
