New York Life CEO Mathas to Leave Role After Almost 14 Years

New York Life Insurance Co. Chief Executive Officer Ted Mathas is stepping down after almost 14 years in the position, with President Craig DeSanto named to replace him.

DeSanto, 45, will take over as CEO of the fifth-largestU.S. life insurer on April 15, with Mathas moving to the role of non-executive chairman “for a transition period,” the New York-based company said in a statement Wednesday. DeSanto, who’s been with the mutual insurer for more than two decades and has been president since July 2020, will retain that title as well.
