Meta Seeks to Consolidate, Suspend Social Media Coverage Cases

Meta Platforms Inc. and subsidiary Instagram LLC asked to consolidate and suspend disputes with their insurers under a California federal court’s jurisdiction until underlying social media addiction litigation is resolved, claiming the carriers engaged in forum shopping when filing lawsuits to duck coverage.

Hartford Insurance Group Inc. units sued Meta in Delaware state court last November, seeking to avoid paying for the tech giant’s legal defense costs in the underlying lawsuits over the platform’s alleged role in getting kids hooked on social media.
