Mars Sued by Liberty Mutual Over Ultra-Processed Foods Lawsuit

A lawsuit alleging Mars Inc. intentionally marketed ultra-processed foods to children despite knowing of possible adverse health consequences isn’t covered by the food conglomerate’s liability insurance policies, a Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. unit said in a complaint.

The underlying suit doesn’t trigger coverage because it alleges only intentional conduct by Mars and the natural and probable result of that conduct, Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance Co. said in a lawsuit filed Friday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
