LX Hausys Sued by Liberty Mutual Over Silica Litigation Coverage

LX Hausys Ltd.'s US subsidiary was hit with a lawsuit from Liberty Mutual insurance units seeking a ruling that they have no duty to defend or indemnify the stone product manufacturer in over 100 lawsuits alleging bodily injury from exposure to silica.

Commercial general liability and umbrella policies issued to LX Hausys America from 2009 to 2017 contain silica and pollution exclusions barring coverage for the underlying lawsuits, the insurers—Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance Co. and Liberty Insurance Corp.—said in a complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
