Liberty Mutual Sues to Avoid Paying for Colorado Fire Litigation

A Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. unit’s policy issued to a telecommunications contractor doesn’t cover litigation against a company that hired the contractor a decade ago to install lines that were later connected to a Colorado fire, the insurer said in a lawsuit.

CenturyLink, a subsidiary of Lumen Technologies Inc., didn’t qualify as an additional insured under the policy, Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance Co. said in a complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the District of Colorado.
