Liberty Mutual Insurance Unit Sued Over Harmful Substance Cases

A distributor of flooring, countertop, and wall tile products is suing a Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. unit alleging the insurer failed to honor its obligations to pay legal defense costs for nearly 130 underlying cases alleging bodily injuries from exposure to harmful substances.

The lawsuit from M S International Inc., filed Feb. 28 in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, involves the interpretation and application of commercial general liability insurance policies issued by Ironshore Specialty Insurance Co. from 2013 to the present.
