LA Law Firm Hit With Insurer Suit Over $100 Million Fraud Case

A Loews Corp. insurance unit is seeking a declaration that it has no duty to defend or indemnify Knight Law Group LLP in an underlying lawsuit brought by Ford Motor Co. alleging attorneys from the Los Angeles law firm engaged in a fraudulent billing scheme.

Knight and other firms submitted inflated and fictitious legal fee claims totaling more than $100 million to Ford and other automakers in lemon law cases dating back to 2015, according to the underlying anti-racketeering suit filed in May.
