L.A. Lakers Sue Chubb Unit for Covid-19 Loss Payouts (1)

The Los Angeles Lakers sued its insurer, hoping to cover financial losses brought on by the coronavirus and a fan-less Staples Center.

Federal Insurance Co., a Chubb Ltd. affiliate, “curtly dismissed” the Lakers’ insurance claim without investigating any facts surrounding the team’s claim, the NBA team said in its complaint filed Monday with the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

The lawsuit comes just days after the Sacramento Kings sued its own insurance provider in federal court for pandemic-related insurance payouts.
