Insurers Lose Bid for Updated Settlement Data in 3M Earplug Case

A Florida federal judge denied a motion from liability insurers, including American International Group Inc. and Chubb Ltd. units, looking to obtain updated data on a multibillion-dollar settlement involving 3M Co. and Aearo Technologies LLC over combat earplugs.

The insurers wanted the court to authorize the settlement administrator to disclose certain anonymized settlement data for use in a coverage dispute with 3M and Aearo in Delaware state court.
