A Farmers Insurance unit is seeking to avoid defending a lawsuit against an accountant and other defendants accused of stealing trade secrets related to licensing rights for Big League Chew gum, saying exclusions under the carrier’s policy bar coverage.
An insuring agreement within the business owners liability policy also didn’t trigger coverage for the alleged violations of federal and Illinois trade secrets laws, Mid-Century Insurance Co. said in a Tuesday complaint filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
