A North Carolina woman isn’t entitled to damages from a Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. unit that refused to pay for a $10 million judgment against a youth swim team and its only coach for sexual abuse, a magistrate judge said.
Nathan Weddle, the sole proprietor of Capital Area Swim Team, isn’t insured under policies issued by National Casualty Co. to USA Swimming Inc. that exclude anyone personally involved in sex abuse, according to a Thursday memorandum and recommendation from Magistrate Judge Robert T. Numbers in the US District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
