Insurance Funds Stolen by Alex Murdaugh Upheld by Federal Court

A federal court said it must uphold a $3.8 million settlement paid by a W.R. Berkley Corp. insurance unit intended for the family of Alex Murdaugh’s deceased housekeeper that Murdaugh stole.

Murdaugh in April was sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing from his former law firm’s clients and the housekeeper’s family. He previously received two consecutive life sentences in March 2023 for the murders of his wife and son.
