United Rentals Owed Coverage in Boom Lift Injury Suit: 1st Cir.

United Rentals Inc. can get coverage from its customer’s insurer for defense in a liability lawsuit involving a trade show accident, the First Circuit said.

United Rentals, one of the world’s largest equipment rental companies, was sued by a trade show attendee who was injured after getting struck by one of its electric boom lifts.

The company has its own insurance policies, but its defense claim should first be covered by its customer’s insurance issued by Scottsdale Insurance Co., according a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
