An Illinois office handling the estates of insolvent or troubled insurance companies failed to convince a federal appeals court to reinstate its case against a Hartford Insurance Group Inc. unit for coverage of a data breach that resulted in a nearly $7 million fraudulent transfer.
The financial institution bond issued by Hartford Fire Insurance Co. to Illinois’ Office of the Special Deputy Receiver contained unambiguous language excluding coverage, Judge Thomas L. Kirsch II of the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit said in a June 18 decision.
