Illinois Health Clinic Sued by Insurer Over Stem Cell Litigation

A Hartford Insurance Group Inc. unit sued an Illinois medical clinic, seeking to avoid paying for legal costs in litigation alleging the clinic used misleading marketing to sell ineffective stem cell treatments.

Hartford Underwriters Insurance Co. is looking to clarify whether its business insurance policy requires it to defend Greater Peoria Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, doing business as Joseph Health Group, in the underlying proposed class action, according to the insurer’s complaint filed June 12 in the US District Court for the Central District of Illinois.
