Knight Specialty Insurance Co. was hit with a lawsuit alleging it wrongfully denied coverage for a fire loss at a cannabis growing facility in Rochelle, Ill.
The carrier had issued a property insurance policy to NPI Hillcrest Investor Group LLC, doing business as Legacy Cannabis, that insured against direct physical loss or damage to NPI’s buildings and business personal property caused by fire, the cannabis company said in its suit filed May 2 in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
