Hertz Insurance Row With State National Unit to Stay in Delaware

Hertz Global Holdings’ quest for insurance coverage from a State National Companies unit for a $27 million SEC settlement and legal bills can continue in Delaware state court, a New York federal court ruled.

Alterra American Insurance had asked the US District Court for the Southern District of New York to end Hertz’s insurance lawsuit in Delaware, saying the New York court already ruled on the coverage dispute in 2021. But Judge John G. Koeltl rejected that argument Wednesday, saying the Delaware court is capable of handling the lawsuit.
