Hartford Sues Workforce Software Firm Over Privacy Litigation

A Hartford Insurance Group Inc. unit is suing a timekeeping software firm, seeking a ruling that it doesn’t owe insurance coverage for an underlying biometric privacy class action.

WorkEasy Software LLC isn’t entitled to insurance coverage for the claims under Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act due to provisions in Hartford Underwriters Insurance Co.'s business owner’s policies, the carrier said in a 17-count complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
