Hartford Insurance Unit Sues Over Novo Nordisk Medicine Case

An Illinois compounded drug company was hit with a complaint from its insurer, a Hartford Insurance Group Inc. unit, seeking a declaration it owes no coverage for a lawsuit brought by Novo Nordisk A/S.

Ambrose Medical LLC, doing business as Performance Medical Clinic, falsely claimed its unapproved compounded drugs are equivalent to Novo Nordisk’s trademark drugs, including Wegovy and Ozempic, according to the underlying suit filed in November.

Insurance policies issued by Sentinel Insurance Co. don’t cover the underlying claims because they don’t allege “bodily injury,” “property damage,” or “personal and advertising injury” as defined by the policies, the insurer ...
