Georgia-based Harrison Poultry Inc. is suing Cincinnati Insurance Co., alleging the insurer wrongfully denied coverage for proposed class actions filed by employees following a 2024 data breach.
Harrison notified Cincinnati of the ransomware attack on Dec. 17, the day it was discovered. But the insurer denied coverage because its cyber policy period ended on Jan. 1 and the first proposed class action wasn’t filed until several months later, Harrison said in a complaint Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
The underlying proposed class actions alleged Harrison failed to safeguard its employees’ sensitive information.
