GEICO is facing a proposed class action from its auto insurance customers for “unfairly profiting from the global Covid-19 pandemic” by allegedly charging excessive fees and issuing insufficient refunds.
Briana Siegal, a GEICO policyholder, filed a complaint Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, accusing three of the insurer’s affiliates of bilking drivers while auto accidents and car travel took a nose dive thanks to stay-at-home orders and travel restrictions.
