Fairfax Unit Drops Insurance Suit Against Background Check Firm

A Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd. insurance unit ended its bid for a ruling that it has no duty to defend or pay for claims in a job applicant’s Fair Credit Reporting Act case against a company performing background checks.

Crum & Forster Specialty Insurance Co. is dismissing its suit against Interstate Background Research Inc. without prejudice, according to a filing Wednesday in the US District Court for the Central District of Illinois. No other details were immediately available.
