Energy Company Sued by Insurer Over Contractor Employee Death

An energy company operating oil and gas wells was hit by a suit from its insurer seeking to avoid paying legal costs over the death and injury of contractor employees performing work on a well tank battery.

A commercial general liability policy issued by Arch Insurance Co. bars coverage for the underlying lawsuit brought in Kansas state court against Merit Energy Co., the insurer said in a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the District of Kansas.
