Chubb Unit Sues Oxy, Engineering Firm Over Chemical Litigation

A Chubb Ltd. unit is seeking a court’s judgment that it doesn’t owe insurance coverage for litigation alleging pollution-related injuries stemming from a Delaware chlor-alkali facility.

Umbrella policies issued to engineering company Shaw Group Inc.—which performed work at the facility as a contractor—don’t cover it or any of the other companies named in the underlying litigation because several exclusions bar coverage, Westchester Fire Insurance Co. said in a complaint Thursday in the US District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana.
