Chubb Tops Other Insurers on Safelite Defense Cost-Sharing

Units of Zurich Insurance Group AG and Travelers Cos. must join a Chubb Ltd. insurer in covering legal defense costs stemming from a dispute between competing auto glass repair companies, an Ohio federal court ruled.

Zurich American Insurance Co. and Discover Property and Casualty Insurance Co. had argued they weren’t liable for certain defense costs because they were incurred before the policyholder notified them of the claim and without the insurers’ consent.
