Chevron Oil Field Dispute Leaves Insurer on the Hook, Court Says

An insurance company that provided coverage to a California oil well services provider must join its other insurers in paying for legal defense costs in an underlying dispute with Chevron Corp. over alleged property damages, a federal trial court ruled.

Kinsale Insurance Co. must share in the defense costs because at least some of the claims against TRC Operating Co. and TRC Cypress Group LLC could be covered by the policy, Magistrate Judge Christopher Baker for the US District Court for the Eastern District of California said in a Monday order.
