A California legislator has introduced legislation that would create a single-payer health system in the state.
Assemblyman Ash Kalra, a Democrat, introduced the California Guaranteed Health Care for All Act to establish a statewide system known as CalCare to cover all residents, according to a press release Wednesday.
“A single-payer system will cost less overall than our current system and will significantly slow the growth of health care costs over time, saving billions each year,” Kalra said in the release.
