Berkshire Taps Shamieh as Jain’s Eventual Successor, WSJ Reports

Berkshire Hathaway Inc. selected General Re Chairman Charlie Shamieh to succeed Ajit Jain when he eventually steps down as head of the conglomerate’s insurance operations, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

Jain, 74, hasn’t signaled his intention to leave and is expected to remain in the role for the foreseeable future, the newspaper reported, citing people familiar with the decision.

A spokesperson for Omaha, Nebraska-based Berkshire didn’t immediately reply to a request for comment.
