Berkshire Insurer Beats Texas Law Firm on Fraud Suit Coverage

A Berkshire Hathaway Inc. insurance unit is off the hook for any potential settlement or judgment in a fraud suit against a Texas lawyer and his firm.

The lawyers professional liability policy issued to Manfred Sternberg & Associates PC didn’t afford indemnity coverage for intentional or fraudulent conduct as alleged in the underlying case, the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania said in a Wednesday order.

Judge John M. Younge previously held that Berkshire’s National Liability & Fire Insurance Co. had no duty to defend Sternberg in the underlying case.
