A federal appeals court for the second time decertified a class seeking to challenge the lapse of life insurance policies due to unpaid premiums where an insurer—in this case, a Kuvare Holdings LP unit—failed to comply with notification requirements.

Relying on a previous decision in a similar case involving an Allianz SE unit, the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on Friday ruled that the lower court had incorrectly granted class certification.
