Allianz, Fairfax Dropped From Foster Home Abuse Insurance Row

A Washington federal court dismissed two excess insurers—units of Allianz SE and Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd.—from a suit brought by survivors of alleged physical and sexual abuse at a group foster home seeking coverage for a $21 million settlement.

The claims against those carriers weren’t ripe because the primary policies hadn’t been exhausted, Judge Tiffany M. Cartwright of the US District Court for the Western District of Washington said in a Jan. 10 order.
