UK’s Man City Overturns Sponsor Ban as Financial Charges Persist

UK’s Manchester City Football Club partially succeeded in a legal challenge to Premier League rules banning inflated sponsorship deals from companies linked to the soccer club’s wealthy owners.

The club, however, still faces 115 separate charges of breaking financial rules in the top tier UK league. Clubs found to have misrepresented financial transactions or managed their spending poorly face consequences, including points deductions that could result in relegation to a lower league.
