UK’s Everton Football Club Faces Fresh Sanctions Over Finances

The UK’s Everton Football Club, already in danger of relegation to a lower competitive division, faces more sanctions after admitting it breached English Premier League spending rules between 2019 and 2023.

The Premier League said in a statement Monday that Everton and another big club, Nottingham Forest, had admitted to breaking Profitability and Sustainability Rules that limit allowable financial losses. Independent commissions will now investigate the breaches and determine punishments for both clubs, the statement said.

Punishments could include large fines and points deductions.
